  SOFTWARE INNOVATION

Click here to participate in research on software procurement by SME's being conducted by Witwatersrand University student Misheck Banda, or email misheckcb@yahoo.com.

Famous economist Peter Drucker, defined innovation as "change that creates a new dimension of performance". Big words to digest in a minute! But here goes...

Technology Top 100
If you attended the TT100 banquet hosted by DaVinci last week, you will have been told that without technology there would be no music, fashion or cuisine. I remain sceptical, unless you count as technology the stone tools used by our ancestors to bludgeon prey, cure hides and bash rocks in rhythm to their chanting and clapping. Still, nFold is pleased to have been named one of the TT100 companies

Software Innovation
We have long been advocates of using software innovatively to lead the pack rather than follow the herd. Our analogy of wolves and sheep was fresh in our minds when we submitted an article to CIO Africa for publication in its next issue. We just hope that the sheep follow our lead and that the wolves don't bite the hand that feeds them.

Using Software to Leapfrog
I will be meeting with CSSA tomorrow with a view to finalising the project plan for our Leapfrog Awards aimed at recognizing the most innovative use of software in 2007. Those of you who attended our recent Local is Lekker - Sunny Skies and Software conference or saw my talk on this subject at Futurex, will have seen the funky frog (1.3 MB) who revs up an imaginary motorcycle and takes off. Have fun leapfrogging!

Focusing on the lighter side of software matters for managers, this newsletter is released every few weeks and should not take more than a minute to read.

Till next time, keep smiling :-)
