NewsThe day I learnt what it means to be an APMP professional

August 12, 2019by Larissa Cornelius

The day I learnt what it means to be an APMP professional. I went from being a clueless 18-year-old, fresh out of high school, without any knowledge of what a Proposal Management Professional was and now I’m interning for nFold.

Since I’ve been training in this field, I’ve taken an APMP Foundation training course that spans over two days, that covered the basic premise of proposal best practices.

I have learnt what nFold aims to achieve and how they deal with their clients and partners. Face to face with clients is difficult during this lockdown period but we make do.

Seeing all these professionals in action made me feel like a “Padawan in the presence of the greatest Jedi’s” this world has ever seen. Like the Padawan need years of training to master the force, one requires training and practice to master what it means to be a true Proposal Management Professional. One day I will learn the way of the pen in proposal creation, management and strategy development, and everything I can learn.

APMP certification training requires that you have at least a years’ experience working in the field before taking your certification exam and proving that this is where you want to be. I have done the base but have some more time before I write.

As someone who has only worked in this field for just over a month, I can say that the amount of insight, knowledge and information that you grasp in that two days of the training is enough to want to make you want to do this job for the rest of your life.
